Help Treasure Our Coast

Do you love Marion’s coast?

Discover how you can help protect and enjoy Marion’s unique coastal environment at the first of a series of special workshops themed Treasuring our Coast, featuring:

  • Chris Daniels - Professor of Urban Ecology at Uni SA and Director of the Barbara Hardy Institute
  • Alex Gaut - Biodiversity Program Manager at the Conservation Council of SA

Wednesday, 11 April, 5.30pm – 8pm at the Domain Theatre, Marion Cultural Centre, 287 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park.  Light supper provided, plus activities for children over six.

Cultural Heritage Survey

Cultural Heritage Survey

The City of Marion, in collaboration with Flinders University, is conducting a survey to collect essential information and ideas about the living cultural heritage of our community.

The survey will collect local stories and information that will assist in protecting and promoting the diversity of our local cultural heritage.

The consultation closes on 30 April

Community Garden Policy

Community Garden Policy

The City of Marion undertook a survey to gain feedback on the draft Community Garden Policy and Framework documents. These documents drive Council’s future directions and decisions in regards to Community Gardens in our City.

Information obtained from the survey will be used to ensure the communities needs are reflected in the documents; and will assist Council in understanding how the community feel about Community Gardens.

Help Build Marion's Future

This year Council is providing innovative new ways to get involved in the Annual Business Plan and Budget consultation. The online budget simulation tool provides an interactive means for you to provide feedback.

Or you can come to the public forum, visit the travelling display, complete a survey, download the documents and more! 

Consultation begins at 9am on March 21 and closes at 5pm on April 11.

Mike Turtur Bikeway

Mike Turtur Bikeway

The Mike Turtur Bikeway, when completed, will provide a shared use path and linear park which stretches from the City to Glenelg.

The path provides residents with: a safe walking and cycling route, recreational resource, greater connection to  local destinations and enhanced local sustainable transport options.

City of Marion undertook a survey to receive feedback on the draft Tree Management Policy and Framework documents. These documents drive council's future direction and decisions regarding trees in parks, reserves and streets.

Will paid parking flood your street with cars?

The City of Marion opposes the application to introduce paid parking at Westfield and the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre. A successful public meeting was held on Sunday 27 November with 125 people in attendance. Community feedback has been included in a report which will was presented at a special council meeting on 06 December. Council conducted a survey of Mobile and Home Library Service users to better understanding of:

  • the current and future needs of residents,
  • what people value about the Mobile and Home Library Services and
  • how we can better meet future demand.
